Assam Tea

Single Estate Black Tea

Grown in the lush, tropical climate of Assam, India, this black tea is prized for its bold, malty character and rich, full-bodied taste. The tea leaves, harvested from the Camellia sinensis var. assamica plant, are carefully processed to bring out their deep, amber hue and signature briskness. Assam black tea is a staple in breakfast blends worldwide, valued for its strong profile and natural sweetness.

With its robust strength and smooth finish, Assam tea is a versatile choice, equally enjoyable on its own or with milk and sweeteners. It pairs well with hearty breakfasts, baked goods, and spiced dishes. Whether you prefer a traditional English-style brew or a spiced chai infusion, Assam black tea delivers a consistently bold and satisfying cup.

Origin Story:

Assam tea traces its roots to India’s Brahmaputra Valley, where the warm, humid climate and fertile soil create ideal conditions for tea cultivation. Unlike Chinese black teas, Assam tea is made from a unique variety of the tea plant, producing a stronger, maltier brew. First commercialised in the 19th century, Assam black tea remains a cornerstone of many classic tea blends, including English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast.
